East to West

March to May 2002

Following my successful millennium meander from Cape Wrath to Cape Cornwall in 2000, this year I decided to cross Britain, walking from the most easterly point on the British mainland, Lowestoft Ness, to the most westerly, Ardnamurchan Point. It was a 742 mile journey through a wide variety of the British countryside, from the flat Fenlands to the wilds of Rannoch Moor. The trip took 52 days, 45 days walking with 7 rest days. I averaged 17 miles a day and climbed a total of 44,000 feet, the equivalent of 10 times up Ben Nevis.

Over £5,400 raised for

Many thanks to everyone whose generous contributions helped reach this magnificent total. Theres not enough space to mention everybody who helped but special thanks go to Dick and Sylvie Dalley whose wedding day honeymoon destination sweep kick started the fund, generating nearly 500 in hour.
